Our commitment to sustainability and renewable energy at Crown Records Management South Africa has reached a significant milestone. We proudly announce the installation of 90 solar panels at our Johannesburg facility. This investment begins a transformative journey towards reducing our environmental footprint and embracing clean energy solutions.
The first phase of our solar panel installation has not only been a significant step towards sustainability but has also proven to be a smart financial move. By harnessing the power of the sun, we’ve managed to cut our electricity bill by nearly half. On exceptionally sunny days, here in South Africa means our reliance on solar power can reach up to 70%, demonstrating the impressive capabilities of our solar infrastructure.

Pieter is Office/Compliance Manager at Crown Records Management and has been with our organisation for over 15 years. He started off work in operations and has now worked in most divisions in Records Management and is part of a wonderful team who are passionate about what they do.
Looking ahead, our forthcoming phase will introduce advanced battery technology, further bolstering our capacity to derive more than 80% of our electricity from renewable sources.
In addition to our solar initiatives, we have implemented a sustainable water management system. A sizable water tank with a capacity of 10,000 litres has been integrated into our infrastructure, complemented by a sophisticated filtration system. This innovative setup ensures efficient water utilisation and promotes responsible resource stewardship. Looking to the future, we are aware of the potential for increased water needs and have plans to expand our water storage to accommodate these needs, further demonstrating our commitment to sustainability.

These initiatives are not just a one-time effort, but the beginning of our ongoing endeavours to operate as a responsible business unit.
